Visi-therm steath and temperature variance

irishspy

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Hi all,

I've had a Steath running on the tank in my .sig for a couple of weeks, now, and, until yesterday, it had maintained a nearly steady 78 -- just where I wanted it.

So, yesterday I did a 2g water change to dilute some of the tannin staining, and today I notice the temperature has gradually dropped to 76. I didn't touch the setting dial, but I did unplug the heater while doing the water change. (And, yes, I plugged it back in. :silly: ) Is this normal? Did unplugging and plugging mess something up? Is the angle of the heater throwing the thermostat off? (You can see pictures of it here.) Am I concerned over nothing?

The link didn't work for me. I have never experienced what you are describing. I have all of mine practically horizontal. A couple I have turned on/off for water changes, until I repositioned them, but didn't experience anything.

mines pretty much set once i dial it in. i also have it placed like rb does. yours is at a 45 degree angle.

Yeah, I've just turned it to horizontal and set the dial right on 79. I'll watch it from here.
