That sounds like fun! I was going to start volunteering at my local wildlife rehab center or the Philly Zoo this summer (but right now I'm the nature assistant at my camp so it would have to wait until after this week when camp's over )
I volunteer but not for animals. I work at the senior center and I also go to a convalescent facility to spend time with the residents and let them tell the stories that make them happy. It never hurts me to sit and listen. I also end up learning a bit of history at times. Talking to the residents is thrilling. Everyone should try it sometime.
Once I get my leg worked on (for good or bad) I will be spending time with one of the local veterinary hospital.
Very true, I do the same thing, but also bring my dog with to visit them. I used to work in veterinary, but got too sad to see all the animals put down and the money making side of things was fustrating. I worked with no-kill animal shelters for quite awhile and loved that.
