What do you think of the Vortex Diatom Filter?

I have well water and it is never "clear" on the best day, but a little while after I turn the vortex on it is very clear.

I have a Model DFF Vortex Freedom Filter.

I love it.

I have an old XL that I am not anxious to give up, but I don't use it very often. When it is needed, it is worth the hassle of setting it up. For smaller and more frequent jobs of polishing I use a Whisper Diatomagic.

I also have an old XL, I have owned it since 1989 or 1990. I hate setting it up, priming it and cleaning it after. I would never give it up though, because it is well worth the effort it does very good job cleaning the tank and making the water crystal clear. If this thing ever dies I will probably get another one or maybe a System 1 filter.

From what I have learned on this webiste, you cannot beat the Vortex for getting your water extra clean - or "polished"... We have had the Vortex XL for about 3 years now. It's not an old product for us, but it does look like an old design. What I wll repeat is that it really works! Also, it is not intended for continuous use like other filters, but for a few hours to get your tank water 'extra' clean.

Some complain about set-up and use of this filter, but it's not that difficult at all.
