Like I said before it doesn't matter if the water quality is good, Hell, I could keep the water in a half gallon cup "good" for a betta.... but no thats cruel according to so many people on this site; I'm disgusted and wont be trusting advice if I decide to ask stocking questions ever again on this site. For all the people with small tanks... I guess it's okay to throw 20 fish in there, as long as you keep the water quality good....

give me a break.

give me a break.

Why is it cruel? can you offer science or is it just your opinion?

give ME a break

I would watch the behavior of the fish to see how unhappy they are in the situation. If they are swimming pel mel around a small tank looking stressed and unhappy, then it's a good bet that they are...but if they seem calm and mellow just meandering around rather calmly and in general behaving normally...don't become sickly and ill and in general just keep in good health all in all....well, I just don't see a problem I guess...

I guess I just don't get into telling people off about how they stock thier tanks. If they ask that's one thing....and maybe even a kindly made suggestion if the person doesn't seem to know and is wondering about an issue they are having which may relate to thier stocking. But if they seem fine with what they have, I see no reason to berate them about it...being thier tank and all...

BTW...I didn't vote for #1 either, but not because I didn't like it or think it was overstocked or anything...........but because my tank was #2 and I felt strangly compeled to vote for THAT one !! :D

yeah, I read it...so what? So many people, what's that mean? I could say that "so many people on here" hate algea. It doesn't make all algea bad or good. It's just opinion, it holds no weight. Much like your holier than thou approach to aquariums.

It's sad to think that most of us can't live up to your standards   :D

I said before the purpose of this thread was to show the noobs what they can do with a small tank. "I have a 10 gallon with 30 neons, 10 hatchets, and a few ottos." If someone posted this they would be bombarded with reasons not to do it. I cannot reference this thread to a noobie seeking advice because I, as well as many others, disagree with the stocking of the winning tank.

Notes,

Juan: I dont disagree with the fact that cardinals are schooling fish, but they would be a bit better off in a tank where they were not crammed in there. Your tank was nice looking, but you do need to take into account your substrate, plants, etc. will displace water, so you are really at less than 3 gallons. I also dont think single filtration will be able to handle that bioload. Im not trying to attack you personally, mabey you really know what your doing, but the purpose of the contest(as stated) was to show noobs how to do a small tank, and if your tank does in fact work, it is more suited to an experienced aquarist. ( Actually I think this is quite the point I was trying to make in another post, but was just now able to put it into words) One little thing goes wrong in that tank, and a noobies going to be posting like a crazy person for how to fix it and fast.

Pixie: We already talked about this. You know Im not bashing you. It was the voters who were to decide, not you. So your off the hook.......for now :D

Ems: Breakfast pasteries........feel better now?

I'm not going to argue with a member on here with 13 posts, you clearly have not read many stocking threads on here. Maybe you should read through some threads on here about stocking, and see how biased the posts are about overstocking tanks, then you could see where people (including me) are coming from.

Bashing me is really not going to get you anywhere.

To TMQP: Thank you for your effort with this contest, it is really appreciated.

Mods: maybe it is time to lock this thread because it is finished, and I don't see anything constructive coming out of it.

Thanks to all for your opinions, those that were favorable and also those that were not.
All opinions are valuable and really appreciated.
Also, I wish to all of you a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

¡Muchas felicidades! - Juan
