Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Kinda hard to tell. Mine is still very small. The largest leaf being only 2-3 inches, paper thin, and solid redish/pink colored.

My digital camera eats thru regular batteries like crazy, but when I can get some new ones I am going to start posting some pics. Will be easier to show things instead of me trying to explain them. lol

Those could be a dwarf lily or maybe a tiger lotus. If they came from walmart, then they are more than likely a dwarf lily. The leaves of my dwarf lilies are initially a mottled red color when they first emerge but turn green on top and reddish on bottom as the leaf matures.
When I need to prune my lilies or apons, I try to snip the leaf off as close as I can to the base without damaging the rest of the plant. I usually don't prune my plants until a leaf starts to die. I did have to take a couple of the floating pads from one of my lilies because they were starting to shade my smaller apons. It shouldn't cause a problem because the lily in question had 4 floating pads with a 5th and 6th on the way up.

you're right, for now there is plenty of light getting through, but I will keep an eye on it b/c I'm sure the lilly will continue growing pretty quickly!

Anyone get the bulb that sprouts the redish/pink arrowhead shaped leaves? Been trying to identify it.

The Aponogeton one that sprouted is growing like crazy. I swear that the runners it sends up go from the bottom of the tank to the water's surface in one day! The rest of the bulbs (5 small sized ones that are more oblong or egg shaped from Petco and 2 walmart round ones) have not sprouted 2-3 weeks later. They are not getting soft yet or getting white fuzzies, though one of the Walmart ones is getting brown fuzzies (I saw someone else's did the same thing before it sprouted so I am hopeful).

I have the same one its pinkish-red and has small green spots on the leaves, and its arrowhead shaped. No one seems to know the name, so Ive been buying packs of those bulbs to try and get another one. The ones that I got came from Petco though.

Ohhh very pretty tank ross. I love the Walmart bulbs and I've had wonderful success with them! Only have 1 Lily at the moment though, and it took forever to sprout. I don't do much with them either, only take off any dead leaves. I Used to snip off the flowers, but I decided to stop doing that to see what happens. They went dormant, but are starting to grow again so I guess it's ok. Just last week I got a banana plant (odd little thing) and some Mondo grass. They were the first plants I've gotten that weren't from a bulb. What I really want is some Java Moss, but I can't find that anywhere!! UGH!

Mondo grass isn't an aquarium plant and will melt in your tank degrading the water quality.

They don't care. They got your money didn't they? I wonder what would happen if you brought proven documentation to them saying that mondo grass was terrestrial and not aquatic. Since they were selling it as an aquatic plant, they would have to give your money back. Right?

Just an update on the arrow shaped leaf plant that sprouted from a Petco bulb. It is indeed NYMPHAEA STELLATA (dwarf lily). The leaves finally grew large enough for me to compare to pictures. It also has what looks like a runner going out to the side with 3 spikes on it. Seems to be growing fairly quickly, though not nearly as fast as the spastic apogenaton that sprouted about the same time.

The 2 Walmart bulbs, probably also a lily, still have not sprouted but remain hard to the touch and a bit fuzzy (brown fuzz).
