Be careful with the footprint...
The "dimensions" quoted on the box is the footprint of the stand *NOT* the tabletop area!
The stand taper upward, so the base has a larger footprint than the tabletop.
I'm using one for my 60G, but my 60G footprint is 48" x 16".
The Wal*Mart 55G stand tabletop footprint is a true 48" x 12", so it fits standard 55G's.
I had to use a larger piece of formica countertop scrap (49" x 19") set on top of the Wal*Mart 55G stand to use it safely.
The formica scrap is 1.5" thick and costed *51 cents* from Home Depot.
