Walstad Method planted 1g bowl

that's so not nice. i'm sure your lone ranger would appreciate some company in there. someone to rub his foot from time to time, maybe. :perv:

Every snail needs a little alone time... But that's over - now there are about 4 or 5 in there. Plenty of foot rubbing for all.:perv:

I tried this in a critter keeper a few years ago and it went badly. The plants ended up overrun with algae and cyano.

Then again that could be due to my tapwater. I may try it again with RO water instead mixed to the correct parameters and see how it goes. I'm curious to see how your bowl does long term :).

Update: 3 days later

The water has gotten a bit cloudy. This didn't happen with the 5g... I'll probably be doing a water change in the next couple days (which should also help clean up the excess dirt :irked:).

The crypts have recovered and reoriented themselves - ironically this c. becketti was the one I didn't want to put in this bowl because I wanted to have it on display in my 10g (it's got nicer, straighter, centered petioles).

Anyway the snails love it.

There are 4, maybe 5 in there now. I think I'll toss in a bit of calcium tab for their shells... controlled experiment, as it were. (*squeal* Lookit those cute spots!)

Cute snail!

I really like the red rams. I ordered some for my 10gal tank, I hope they look as good as yours!

Thanks, mine actually have quite a bit of shell scarring... If you're ordering online, I'm pretty sure yours will be (should be!) nicer.
