Well I hate to say goodbye to my ropefish but im giving them to a better home so i can enjoy some other fish as well as my current fish. I would like some recommedations of some fish to add that will go with the look of my tank as it is now.
If you click on the link in my signature you can find out my tank specs , see what kind of fish i have, and what it looks like. Not listed are 6 young mollies which are going in my 55 gallon since my ropefish will be gone and will not eat them.
Bottom Feeders:
I really would like a loach that will remind me of my ropefish. I've seen at LFS a weather loach and a kulhli(sp?) loach. Wondering if anybody has any kind of input on these fish? Also i was thinking bout getting another julli cory so my one isnt lonely. Also a LFS has a sale buy one bronze cory get the other for 1cent, so i was thinking about getting two of them along with the julli. Would this be pushing the limits for bottom feeders with 6 corys and a loach of some sort?
Algae Eaters:
I also would like some sort of pleco. I know from reading around that these fish can grow pretty big, but realistically how long will it take one to outgrow my 55 gallon if i buy it small? Or i like something unusual as shrimp but i do not know if these will be a good choice since i do not have many live plants except java moss.
Other fish:
I had thought about staying with tetra along with the 6 mollies but the only reason i have those tetra are cause my girlfriend sort of suprised me with them and i had to put them in . I would like something that will stand out yet look good in my tank. I always like the look of tiger barbs but after reading i heard alot about fin nipping and do not want to run into any trouble with them. I bet some kind of angelfish would look good but im not sure they will be compatible with my other fish.
So please forgive my ignorance as i would like people's opinions so i will avoid overstocking and/or mixing the wrong kinds of fish. Im still learning as i go. Please drop your opinion in here as im going to the fish store friday night after i sell my ropefish.
