I was wondering if I got small neon tetras if that would be suitable food for my JD. Hes still less thatn an inch and a half and I don't want to feed him feeder goldfish because I don't want to disease the tank and Jack. So would neons be alright?

I perfer frozen foods bloodworms, beefheart, brine shrimp with spirilla. You can feed live earthworms from a bait shop. Tetras could have diseases too. I feed live earthworms and I hatch my own brine shrimp mostly when I feed live foods.

^Because in general the tanks with tetras in them are a lot cleaner with no dead stragglers floating between them as in the feeder goldfish tank? Just a hunch.
the JD is still just a baby. I'd feed him other non-live foods until he gets bigger. If anything some live bloodworms or earth worms. No need to make it harder on yourself.

All the LFS around here have a huge wet/dry filter system that feeds all the tanks, they have a couple independently filtered tanks but those are the huge saltwater reef and african cichlid tanks. Petsmart and the chains all work off one or two giant systems.PhillyIn06 said:
