hey everyone,

i currently have 2 30g freshwater tanks and am now I am playing with the idea of starting up another tank. I have a friend who is giving me another 30 gallon tank; just the tank. I'm trying to put together a cost for everything. I don't have alot of money to waste but I want to do this right. I want to do a fish only tank.

I can build my own canopy for the tank so that's not going to be a problem.

Other than that, what type of hardware am I looking at needing? What do you all recommend?

i appreciate any help you all can give to a sw newbie.

thanx

What all animals are you interested in having? In a 30, you'll be pretty limited on what fish you can keep, but with a good mix of inverts it would be a great tank. So--the big question--do you want corals? In not, here's what I would go with:

2 powerheads for water movement. 30-40 lbs live rock. 3-4 inches sand. Heater. Skimmer. For lights, either NO fluorescent or PC--with PC you'd have more options for corals, but the NO would be fine for fish, rock and mobile inverts.

Then pick a pair of small fish--clowns, or some gobies, smaller wrasses, etc. Shrimp, crabs, snails, etc.
