Wanted colorful cichlids

i have no knowledge of the trewavase or the polystigma, but the other cichlids sound like they should be okay together. i have never had catfish with my cichlids either so can't comment on that. the pleco will prob be okay though, try to pick out one that is already 3 inches or so at the store. i would just leave your gravel be, it should be easy enough for them to dig in. other cichlid experts can chime in to this thread too

Thanks Biogirl !Sorry to hear about your loss. My polystigma is pretty territorial in my cheesy 30 gal tank. They also get up to 9 in. I might see if I can get a tank for it. The labeotropheus trewavasae, they say is peaceful. They get to about 5-7 in.
If anybody has any polystigma info, I'd like to hear. Thanks

Thanks, i am sad and quite surprised about this as well despite having been warned that oto's were delicate. i have never seen anything like it. he seemed to adjust happily to the tank, ate well for 5 hours or so, and then just died. all in the same evening. amazing
