I think I see the problem here... the poor girl lives in Iowa! My husband is from Iowa and we went out last spring to visit his family. 
I was in shock! There is nothing, nothing, nothing but corn fields and land. :look: I stood in my mil's kitchen and looked out the window at a house they used to live in that was 6 miles away! And I could see it because there was NOTHING to block my view! For a southern girl born and raised in NC it was a big change! I can safely say: I could NEVER live in Iowa!
And, like a couple of other people have said, I also met the love of my life online... he was living in Ohio at the time and we started a friendship online, never anything romantic at all. One day I found myself in Ohio (after driving a friend back home from her visit here) and decided to go meet this guy that always made me laugh online. We've been together ever since.
The most important thing is a good friendship. If you don't have a good friendship with someone then you can never have a good relationship with them. GOOD LUCK!

Aww, hope she finds someone. I found my now husband through penpalling. (seriously) we wrote for years, then he started calling, then visited. Now I'm out here, 1000 miles from my family with him..

Sometimes I suppse it doesn't hurt to just make friends and meybe the rest will fall into place. Since neither of us were looking to become more than friends when we started corresponding. It just sort of happened. (BTW we have been happily married over 3 years )
