I am looking for jellyfish to put in my new 55 gallon salt water tank. However I have ben having problems finding a place to buy them. If you have any information please tell me. Thank You!

Just a little info for ya. I looked into making a jelly fish tank but ound out quickly why they don't work and why they aren't sold. They generally need cool water or they melt away. Also they can't survive in an aquarium with corners. They need round tanks with powerheads blowing a current all around the tank or else they just get stuck. That pretty much means a custom setup that I did find on the net but cost somewhere close to $10,000.

They are cool creatures though, just not meant for the standard aquarium.

Agreed. There are a few places that sell them, but if you have anything other than a column, you'll just be killing them.

There are stores that specialize in jellies--complete with appropriate setups for sale. I can't think of the website off the top of my head, but I've seen an ad for them in a recent fish-related magazine...I'll try to find it and post it.

Not the site I was thinking of, but this one has some really good info: http://jellieszone.com/captivejellies.htm

jellyfish

upsidedown jellyfish don't move around and look like soft coral. Seen lots of them in murky water around mangroves when I lived in the Carolines. Wouldn't have a clue what to feed them though. Very interesting creatures that are very popular with aquarium keepers in Japan.

hey you guys your totaly blowing off hex tanks, they'll work because theyre not sharp corners, and if those are too sharp for you can fill it in with aquarium sealent.

Hex tanks have too little surface area for their depth--very challenging to effectively filter without creating too much current for the jellies.
