Wanting Redtailed Shark

I Had A Red Tail Shark. When He Got Full Size He Bullied Everything In The Tank. He Had Plenty Of Places To Hide But Still Went After Everything. He Almost Killed My Gourami. I Finally Talked To My Lfs And They Had Someone That Likes Aggressive Fish And Agreed To Take It. I Doubt I Ever Get Another One.

I've had a RTBS for over a year now. He's big, healthy and aggressive as heck. I've got him in a 29 gal tank with 3 cories and that's all the shark will ALLOW me to put in there. Every new fish introduced gets chased non stop.

He has plenty of hiding places, he just rules the tank and so my community tank is now a 4 fish tank with the feature fish being a big RTBS.

If you have a bigger tank, I don't think they are as aggressive. They are very territorial and they will gaurd their area.

I had to take mine back at like 3" because he was getting too agressive. He was constantly battling my 4-5" CAE and they were doing dmg. So I took them both back. Plus the RTS would chase my other fish all around the tank. I bought him small and he was nice and peacefull untill he got bigger.

I planned on getting a RTBS when I get a bigger tank. But I was planning on putting it in at least 75-125 tank with hopefully some Bala Sharks and maybe some Tiger Barbs. I've heard with plenty of space and fish that are bigger/faster that they can be ok.

I had a Redtail shark kill an entire school of Lemon tetras...and part of a school of Serpaes. He was in a 55g.

The red tail should be fine but may have an issue with the loaches if they keep entering his territory. If you get one build him a cave on one end of the tank to the bottom has more room for the khulies to roam.
