Heya

I'm not too sure how great of a product this is (See title). I purchased some of these shrimp pellets to suppliment the diet of my cory cats. I found that they quickly fouled the water and softened waay to quickly. I'm not sure if my cories were even interested in the pellets either. More often or not the pellet debris spread over the tank and got caught in everything making a mess. Blah..blah blah! Soo I went to change my water yesterday and one of my cory cats was dead...same water change routine. I hope the rest of the guys make it and I hope the loss of the cat was not a result of the fouled water. Booo shrimp pellets.

Thanks

It's unlikely that the water fouling from shrimp pellets caused the fish's death. Particularly if you used wardly pellets, which are almost all food and absolutely zero ash. Check your water parameters and the health of your other fish, you may have other issues in the tank.

Wardly makes a really top notch algae wafer, but I've found their shrimp pellet falls apart too quickly for my fish. Try using omega one shrimp pellets instead. They hold together for at least an hour while the fish pick at them and move them around. Give your wardly pellets to someone who has fast feeding fish and pick up a little bottle of omega one.

Hi,

In general Wardley Shrimp pellets are not a quality food (I know a few people will disagree). So I would get some HBH or Hikari Shrimp pellets next time. My Cories like the HBH Shrimp pellets.

Or get some Hikari Sinking wafers which are even better.

I have never seen a fish not eat the Aquarian shrimp pellets. I mean, every and anyone will tear at those things except for my bettas. But that's just because my bettas refuse to eat anything that isn't floating.

I'm meaning to get some Omega One though - only because I am of the opinion that they are the runaway highest quality fish food. I love their freshwater flakes, algae wafers, and veggie flakes. The ingredient listing says it all.

I have heard of a bad batch of Wardley shrimp pellets before that fell apart incredibly quickly. But on the whole they are a top notch product no matter what Cory Lover may think. (Yes, I know that was aimed at me).

I have been using them as part of my cories diet for 5 years. But there are plenty of other quality foods as well. Just make sure to check ingredients.

Also, just how many pellets are you feeding you fish? I seriously doubt a couple of pellets could ever have caused the death of a fish.

Don't count all wardly products out. The wardley algae wafers are the only ones on the market I can find that don't use wood ash as a filler in their product. My fish treat these wafers as the tasters choice prefrence 100 percent of the time. The flake is good, and is also zero ash. I guess it's just the shrimp pellets that disapoint me, but I fight to find those wardley wafers!

Hi,

That was not aimed at you. I just knew some people disagree with me so I didn't want to argue. Lets agree to disagree TKOS. Its just I never hear complaints about Hikari, but I do here quite a few about Wardley like this one.:)
