WARNING Juwel tank and Deltec MC500 skimmer

Actually, having looked at your pic, why dont you use the MC 600 HOT skimmer, as you have no lid on your tank anyway, you can fit one of those wherever you like on the outside and you wouldnt have to adapt your tank in anyway.

Cat the picture you are refering to is not my tank. Mine has the standard lid, the problem is the fact this is a retro fit and the external filter intake and out flow occupy the small gap in the back of the tank on the left, this prevents the skimmer from hanging in the only position it can if you have kept the internal filter. I would really like to see some pictures of your modified tank, I still think you need to cut a hole the length of the skimmer because the holding bracket is higher that the rim of tank on which it hangs, which in turn means the whole skimmer is higher than the rim not just the collection cup.

The holding bracket is adjustable, I have hocked mine onto the internal filter, unstead of the tank itself. My lfs suggested not using the bracket at all and just sitting it on some rock, I have also done this. I agree that if you keep the water level up to where the wood at the top starts you cant fit the main unit under the hood, it sticks out about 1cm and them the collection cup on top of that, in order to keep the water under the max line on the skimmer. if however you dont mind the water being a little tiny bit lower than that you can fit the main unit under the lid

Durrhh, I never thought of just placing it on some rock, I can't hang it off the internal filter because that is in use. I will try this out at the weekend.

Well here are some pics of mine, sorry about the quality I just used my camera phone.
Its a Juwel Trigon Corner tank, I have taken a pic from the front, inside, the top, with the cut out, a close up and a pic from the side of how I have the rockwork supporting it. What you cant see is I have stuffed a plastic cookie cutter in there intop of the rock cause it wasnt quite high enough :)

What do you mean by your filter is in use? cause I am also using my filter, I have it attached onto the side without the outflow pipe with the outflow sponge side of the skimmer against it, and it doesnt cause the filter any problem.

Thanks for the pictures. I was thinking that hanging it from the filter box along the right side of the tank was a no go option because of the presence of the lighting unit. I need to take a closer look at this when I get home tonight.
