Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum, and new, rather new again to this hobby. I used to keep Africans about 25 years when they were rather new to the US.

Anyway, in returning to the hobby, I went a little overboard in acquiring equipment.

Heres what I've bought so far:

Jebo Odyssea B60 (actually about 66 gallons) with integrated hood containing overhead wet/dry filtration, and compact flourescent lighting with both bright white and moon blue lights. It is the curved glass bowfront. It also came with the matching 2 door stand, an Odyssea CFS4 canister filter & media, and crushed coral sand substrate in a package deal. All brand new in boxes for $310 out the door. A friend and I each bought one in order to get the price down.

Answering an ad in the paper, I purchased a 50 gallon round corner acrylic with wood stand and HOT Magnum 250 for $148. All are used, and the tank has a few scratches. I think this deal was average to not so good.

APBI branded 27 gallon curved glass bowfront with all inclusive integrated hood containing overhead filtration and flourescent lighting for $75. Fully submersible heaters of any wattage for about $5. Many other very good prices direct from a pet supplies distributor whose warehouse is being relocated by the end of January.

But here is where I think I really scored.....an ad in the recycler paper. I got two Fluval 304, one 204, and one 104 canister filter with all related hoses and connections. All in working condition, but no media. One 60 gallon Visio tank with hood and lighting. 2 Tetratec AP200 pumps in new condition. One 300W submersible heater. Several large ornaments, fake rocks, real rocks, corals, 10# of natural gravel, air stones, air controllers, and two large plastic tubs. Also various cichlid foods, 1 gallon of new Black Diamond activated carbon, 1 extra large bag of generic ceramic rings, and a bag of Fluval Bio Max ceramics. Various other items as well, for $81. The same seller has a handful of other tanks available.

How did I do so far?

Wow!!! :thm:
Where are you located and do they have any other deals!! :look: Allways looking for good priced supplies!!

I call that the deal of the decade, w6wat! I just returned a new 46g bowfront that only included the tank, stand, glass cover and light fixture to my local lfs. This kit was about $375.00 and did not include filter, heater, or any ornaments, sand, gravel, etc. Where did you find all this great stuff???? Anywhere around Ohio?

Yep! I'm in Southern California. The new curved glass bowfromt 66 gallon came from a LFS in Orange County. They have a lot of fish, but sell out quickly between deliveries as their prices are excellent. They also have a wide assortment of tanks of various brands in many sizes, but only a few smaller ones. It's in the Little Saigon area of Westminster.

The distributor I mentioned is currently in City of Industry, CA, but is relocating to Arizona by the end of the month. If you're interested in any pet supplies as well as aquaria, I'd suggest you jump on it right away before they go. Here's their website, where you can find a few of the items they offer. The website seems to be incomplete or under construction, possibly because of the move. I didn't know about it until after I bought some stuff from them. http://www.petserendipity.com/

Most of the used stuff came from a "garage" type sale in Downey. When I left, the lady said she'd take $50 for the remaining stuff. A 10g, a 20H, 34g 40g, 60g, a pine stand for the 60, and various other items.
