Do I need to worry about soap residue getting inside the tank when I set it up? Should I not wash my hands before I set it up?

My opinion: no, you should wash your hands before playing with your tank, but you should also make sure to rinse and dry your hands very well.

I think that you should just make sure you've rinsed really well. Having clean hands is important for fish stuff, but you need to make sure that soap isn't getting into your tank either. I actually don't worry about it too much at all.

Yeah. Just rinse very well. Better to risk a little soap residue than the multiple pollutants we come in contact with on a day to day basis

i use organic soap when i wash my hands tends to not leave so much residue on my hands. but i dry and rinse several times in filterd water to get anything else off.

I either wash with soap and rinse well, or just rinse well before I get into the tank for maintenance. Do your best to get the soap residue off, and you'll be fine.

I usually jut stick my hands in. No washing or rinsing until after I'm done.

Yeah, I don't specifically wash my hands beforehand, admittedly. It's a bad habit.

If you wash your hands properly, you won't have any soap residue left on them.
