I have always liked african cichlids. When i decided to start up an aquarium i ran a few tests on my tap water, and guess what? 8.2 ph right out of the tap. Made it really easy. Now I want to start up a 10 gal tank with some small pretty fish but i don't know of any that can handle high ph. Any suggestions?

You should consult your water agency to find out the stability of that ph. Im no expert, I could be way off, but that sounds high from the tap. Make sure that is corect, and also inquire about any reason for fluctuation of that. Assuming the tap Ph is usually a safe bet, but an ounce of prevention.........

My water comes from a deep well. I live near the coast and all of our soil is mostly quartz sand with limestone rock all underground. Since I have lived at this house (9months) the 8.2 ph has been 100% consistant.

My water is 8.2 directly out of the tap but if I let the water age for 24 hours it goes down to 7.4.
