Water Change Survey

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please answer the following water change survey.
Rohn
1. How big is your tank?
3 Small (5-10-29)
2 Medium (44-55)

2. How frequently do you do water changes?
Weekly

3. How much water do you change?
Specify in gallons
5g: 2-2.5g
10g: 4-5g
44g: 20g
55g: 20-25g

4. At what NO3 level would you do water changes?
>=30ppm-40ppm

5 And how much?
Specify in gallons
depending on tank (e.g. 60-75%)

1.
1 large 90 gallon
1 medium 30 gallon
1 small 20 gallon

(a few others not in service right now)
2.
Weekly on all my tanks

3.
90 gallon and 20 gallon about 75-80%
30 gallon about 20% (planted tank)

4.
I rarely check them just keep up with the water changes. My bio load doesnt fluctuate so I don't really see the need.

haha, thats the problem i have to many, so i cant change water all that much, and i have no ill effects from not changing the water it is atually really healthy plants and fish loving it. but then i do replace like 1/4 of the tank water ever few weeks due to evaporation.

If you are only replacing evaporation whatever minerals in the water will intensify with each replacement. Your fish may get used to it and be healthy for quite a while. But what happens when someone spills a coke (or a beer) into your tank and you have to do a major water change? The fish will be stressed and sensitive ones will die.

I change water frequently, and perhaps more than I need to. But I want it close to what comes out of the tap just in case.

1. How big is your tank?
Smaller than small
3 Gallon x 1
6 Gallon x 1

2. How frequently do you do water changes?
Bi weekly / Weekly

3. How much water do you change?
About 30 - 50 % of the water.

4. At what NO3 level would you do water changes?
Both are planted tanks.

1. How big is your tank?
A Small 20G and a 10G

2. How frequently do you do water changes?
Bi weekly for the 20G, weekly for the 10G

3. How much water do you change?
At least 30-40%, or about 6-8 gallons total a week for my 20G

4. At what NO3 level would you do water changes?
Haven't check water params in a while, but i would say around 20-30 ppm or higher.

Also, if you try adding a new fish down the road, the mineral content will most likely be too high and kill it because it is not used to the minerals.
