Does bimonthly mean 'twice a month' or 'every two months'?

I'm afraid it means both! But in the publishing industry, it is used fairly consistently to mean 'every two months'. The same ambiguity affects biweekly and biyearly. If you want to be absolutely clear, use a phrase such as 'twice a week' or 'every two years'.

I was thinking the same thing. I worked with a fitness trainer that required biweekly reports which were every 2 weeks.

Don't change too much btw. You got maybe 7 gallons including your canister filter. You can easily change the parameters drastically with too big of a water change.

Heh, I should rephrase that. When I said biweekly, I implied twice per week. Every two weeks should be the bare minimum on a nano.
