water changes

Hello I'm new to this forum and aquariums.
But I have a idea for water changes.
I had a python that I had been using and it seemed a little slow and used a lot of water when when draining the tank.
So I went to tractor supply and got a Shur Dry electric water sponge.( transfer pump) that pumps 5 gpm.
Then used the hoses from python for the inlet and outlet on the pump.
Then I put a nylon mesh over the end of the vacuum tube.
I have a double kitchen sink so I drain the tank on one side and on the other side I set up 5 gallons to put back in the tank.
This way I can regulate the temperature of the water and put conditioner in.
After the tank is drained I use both sides of the sink to make up new water.

Depends on how mutch water pressure you have.I use a phython and i can drain mine in about 15 min...same for refilling also...but what ever works for you....sounds like it works good...:dance2:

Hey Dutch...after the water starts draining from your tank, turn the water off going into the sink. Turning the water on starts the siphon. Once the siphon is started it will continue until you raise the vac/hose out of the water.

I do a 55 and a 37, drain to refil in about 1/2 hour.
