I regularly (weekly) vacuum the gravel in my tank and change about 15% of the water. My water paramaters are very good (no ammonia or nitrite and very low nitrate). Is there recommendations for removing and cleaning decorations and vacuuming under them? If so, how can this be done without out hurting any fish?

In my 55, I vacuum all the open areas each weekly water change, but I only move rocks etc, in one-third of the tank at a time.

In other words, it takes three weeks for me to vacuum under everything, but I have a lot of stuff in my tank, and I believe moving it all at once would stress the fish.

Plus, it's really not necessary to move everything every change, as long a you can do a reasonable job of vacuuming around it.

As far as cleaning my rocks and stuff, I don't do it. All my stuff has a layer of fuzz algae growing on it, and I think this is good for my aquarium.

And then there's my mbuna tank, where I only move the rocks about once a year...
