water conditions... fish dyeing?

Well, I don't want to bother the fish... why I was going to wait till tomorrow to do another 60% change

The nitrite in your tank is still toxic to your fish. Nitrites effect fishy respiration ... your fish can't breath. And you're worried about disturbing them ...

Change the water. Your fish will thank you.

Alright... so I yet again did another massive water change... here's the results:

Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0.8
Nitrate- 10
pH- 7.6

How come my nitrite levels are not going down?

I'm not sure if it will help much, but are you doing gravel vacs. with any of these water changes? It will help get out any waste that might be decaying. Also, give your filter media a good rinse in tank water. I think nitrites take the longest to disappear in the normal cycling process, maybe it is the same with a re-cycle. NEVER let your family feed your fish again!!! LOL

Well, I do keep using the gravel vaccum everytime that I do a water change....

And today I did wash off the sponge in the filter...

Should I continue to do a 60% water change everyday?

You'll need to keep doing water changes as often as it takes :o . The higher the reading of ammonia and/or nitrite, the harder it is on your fish and their long term health

YES!... Finally... my nitrite levels are down... not at zero yet... but, it's making it's way down... it's now at 0.3 ....

How long should the nitrite levels stay down at zero for before I buy more fish?
