Water Current.

Ok, I currently have a AC150 and some other filter (one that came with a 10gal. kit....i will be using this filter for a Qtank in a few weeks) running on my 20gal. tank. Since i added the 10gal. filter, i noticed alot more current in the water.

Is this bad for a Dwarf Flame Gourami and possibly a new male betta, if they dont fight? (especially since the betta has large fins that may catch the current)

I am wanting to get another fish or 2 to swim around. So after they are out of the Qtank, should i leave the smaller filter off or put it back on?

My AC150 is supposed to be enough for up to a 30gal. tank and the AC200 for up to a 50gal. Do you think eventually upgrading to just 1 AC200 on my 20gal. is overkill? The gph is 10x the amount of water in the tank, and it does have some kind of knob that adjusts the waterflow.

Sorry if this was confusing, this is the third time i have typed it because something messed up with my Internet Explorer. I did it pretty fast, and i hope neither of the other 2 posts show up.

Well, anyway, thanks.

I think the one (AC150) filter on the 10 should be sufficient, you wouldn’t have to move the other back after quarantine. As far as the current for the betta, wait and see how he handles it; you can turn it to the low setting. I read about another idea a betta owner used although I haven’t tried it myself. Seems reasonable and pretty inexpensive to try, anyway. This person bought one of those clear plastic soap dishes (make sure it’s new of course) that has the attached suction cups and positioned it under the output of the filter to diffuse the rush of the water flow.
