Ok, I am really beginning to think that the plant I've been trying to ID is a water lilly of some sort.
No flower at this point, but the thing has taken over my 5 gallon. I'm probably going to have to remove it and put it somewhere else. I don't really know if I have room in my 40 gallon, so maybe someone here would like it. It's gorgeous, but very big.
I've been trying to research it, but all the pictures that I find are of the flowers, not of the leaves, which is what I really need. Anyone know where to find pictures of the leaves of water lilies??
I *think* it might be a WILLIAM MCLANE Purple Day Blooming Lily. But I'm not entirely positive.
Just wondering if anyone else might have some info that could help me better ID it.
Of the 7 *very large* leaves on it, 3 are floating like lilies would. The 4th is almost to the top of the water and will be floating like the rest and the other 3 are just started, so haven't grown quite that tall. But it's huge. Spread all over the top of my aquarium, and with really really long stems squiggling through my aquarium since there obviously isn't enough depth in the aquarium to accommodate the height that it is apparently suited to.
All this from one of them teeny "betta bulb" packages. LOL
Anyhow, I took more pictures of it, because the video I took of my betta and posted on here obviously didn't help. Lots of people were suggesting it was an Anubis of some sort, but it definitely isn't.
The leaves are averaging about 3-6" in length and about 3" across at the base where they are widest.
I've attached a picture of the base of the plant (and Sapphire, who is playing in it), as well as a picture of the top of the tank, looking at one of the floating leaves from the plant. Hopefully those help??
