I had a Whisper 30 HOB filter on my 30 Hex, It put out 135 GPH. I pulled it off to get another filter that would put out more GPH to circulate a little more water.

I got a Marineland 200 Model, it puts out 200 GPH. The filter works great, is quiet etc. But the flow that comes out of it does agaitate the surface alot more. Im concerned that it will de gas the tank of C02. Do I need the Bio Wheel? with it on it creates more force when the water is passing it. ( I took the bacteria sponge out of the old filter and placed it in the new one, So bacteris has a place to grow)Without it the water slows down a bit. How much surface agitation before C02 is de gassed from the water?

I have an AC20 on my 10gal. To reduce the surface agitation I fill the tank up so the water level is above the filter outflow. Seems to be working, now that I finally have my drop checker it is showing a "green" reading.

I have done the same thing, The old filter works with this method. The new is so powerful it pushes the water down and back up which is causing the problem. I guess I could wait for my Drop checker to get here and see how bad it is.

I've been doing this - along with feeding the co2 bubbles into the intake of the filter.

Wouldn't know if its working or not, no drop checker or good lighting :swear:

increase your co2 on a saturday and keep an eye on the tank. when you start to see your fish heading for the surface of the tank then you know your max limitt for c02 back the regulator or your needle valve down slowly and again watch the fish and pearling till you get to a level you like. also look at your difuser and see where the level is. thats all i do for co2 even though a have a ph probe and monitor there less reliable then above. at least it was in my case

I dont have my Pressurized system yet. I have a DIY. I added some tetras (they were the first fish in minus cory's) and after about an hour two of them were at the top for air. Obviously the DIY co2 runs all the time, and it was for weeks. I pulled the line, and added an airstone and let that run overnight with no C02. The fish are happy.
