Hey guys. I recently set up a 90 gallon tank and I am afraid that I am not getting enough water movement. I was wondering if anyone could provide any suggestions. I have seen people talking about powerheads but I dont know exactly how those would be set up. Sorry for such a newb question but I don't want to screw something up.

Powerheads will be the best bet. A powerhead is a small pump, similar to the one on many HOB filters. They come with a suction cup brackets or HOT hangers, so you can place them at a variety of levels. Check one out at the LFS, you should be able to see how it will work from there.

hey there..

u can get a powerhead.. don't worry about setting it up.. it's pretty easy..

by the way, have u seen one already? :dive2:

Yeah I saw one the other day but everything I was reading said to hook it up to my undergravel filter, which I don't have. So I didn't want to get one and bring it home and then feel like an *** when I couldn't even use it. They looked fairly simple and inexpensive though so I was hoping that would be my best bet. Thanks.

They don't have to be connected to a UGF, they just often are. I run them in all my tanks bigger than 10 gallons, and I don't have any UGF any more. You will want to be sure there is a prefilter (usually a plastic mesh cone) on the intake to prevent smaller fish from being sucked in, but I'm pretty sure most models come with this.

hooking it to an UG filter is an option but it is not required

the power head will work withoug the UG, u can get the ones with suction cups and just stick it on the glass :dive:
