I'm building a DIY wet/dry (trickle) filter, but I'm stuck on one bit. I'll post the specs of the setup here first, then the question:

Tank: 100 gallon 18x18x72
Filter: DIY trickle, 5g bio-media, housing is ~44g tub.
Stock: Probably a Tanganyika cichlid tank

Heres my question, in two parts.

1. What kind of GPH should I be looking at (real gph coming in, not rated gph)

2. What model pump would you suggest that would give me this GPH, assuming a 5' or 6' head?

Thanks in advance.

On all of my freshwater wet/dry filters I aim for 3x turnover rate. A lot of people seem to think it is low but it works for me on very heavily stocked tanks. As far as pump brand I would go with Quiet One. They are VERY nice pumps.
