water restriction question

While they may have their advantages in terms of reducing the overall volume going through the plumbing, I don't like eductors at all. They velocitize the flow far too much and make a narrow stream that is extremely unnatural, not to mention damaging. Beyond that, you aren't getting the bulk water movement that everything would experience in the ocean. That is why you want much less velocity and much more volume--mass, low-velocity water movement is key. That is why all of the newer powerheads on the market are made like they are.

Yes or larger is ok too but not smaller. The input only operates on suction pressures that are not as great as the pump's output pressure. If the pump can pump more than it can suck, you get cavitation which is very bad.

You never want to restrict a pump's suction. You can restrict its output all you want down to about 5% but not the suction.

You should generally try to not have any bends close to the suction port. But if you actually do use 2" it shouldn't matter in your case.

Yeah I probably would too. Two" is a beast.

I'm really amazed a pump with that flow even comes with those small 'lets. What is it again?

it's a proline hy26 bby pondmaster which is Danner mfg. silly me I was just looking at it and that one has a 1.250 in & out. I have a DAnner hy24 that has a 1in in&outs. you know how it goes sometimes when you have several items it can get confusing .

Yeah! That's making a lot more sense now.

Got a link as I can't puzzle out their goofy web site.

OK, so I was looking at this pump issue and making a list of parts. It has 1.250 male threaded nipples, when I found the adapter to fit this thread it is actually a 1 inch hole. If I run 1.5 pvc to the nipple and use a 1.5 - 1 in reducer will this cause restriction. Does it make in kind of worthless going with 1.5 in materials or is this still good because I will be delivering all the water pressure to the pump and the pump won't have to work so hard pulling the water. ( I am questioning my thought on this question thinking it may be perhaps..well, dumb)
