Does anyone know good water specs for Oscars. I'm concerned because I have a Tiger Oscar that I'm growing out right now, and I had a slightly smaller Albino Oscar in with him until it passed on. I noticed that the Albino had developed a pink or red tint to its skin around the base of the gills and I don't know if there is something wrong with my water or what. I'm going to do new tests on the tank today, but if someone could reply as to what would be a safe range it would be much appreciated.

stability of conditions is much more important than the actual pH etc. albino's in my experience aren't as hardy whatever the species. as long as you have a stable tank i'd just put his death down to bad luck with the individual, if it was a one off.

Thanks for the info guys. I felt horrible when I walked in from school and found him lying on the bottom. I just wanted to make sure that it didn't end up happening to the others in the tank. Thank you very much. I thought maybe it was something such as ammonia or nitrite in the tank that caused the reddish tint around his gills.

I'll try to keep the conditions as they are and keep the tank in a favorable living environment. I'm just beginning this whole aquarium thing and don't anything but you to rely on.

Thanks again
