I think I should get a water testing kit.

If I wanted a test kit that tested stuff like pH, and the CO2 level, and the amonium and other stuff that might be dangerous for fish, what should I get? How much does a good testing kit cost?

My most commonly used test kits are PH, KH/GH, and nitrate. I like the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and Hagen kits myself, but I haven't tried too many different brands. I have a couple of Sea Chem kits and don't like them as well, but that could just be because I don't test PO4 & Iron too often. There are a number of "master" kits available, but most don't offer KH/GH.

If you want to check your CO2 level you need to know your KH & PH and use a chart.
