Water vs. Coke

Did you hear about the station in CA that had a contest of who could drink the most water within a couple of hours?? One of the contestant died b/c of it...the prize they where competing for was a Nintendo Wii. I think that they ended up firing the host of the show because of her death.

Holy ****! I'm surprised no one stopped the event before it started. I can understand one person never hearing about overdosing on water... but an entire radio station and the people at the event not knowing that too much water in too little time = death... people need to be a little more well informed.

"To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl, and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour. Then flush clean."

This $-saving idea... didn't work for me; I even let it sit all day. I'll switch back to clorox. But fortunately I got the big bottle of classic coke for only $1 and can recycle the bottle. I wish it had been the classic coke of my youth (1950s/60s), made with real sugar (not corn syrup), because I would have consumed it myself, not literally poured it in the toilet...

i wouldn't worry to much, your stomach acid is HCl. much stronger than the acid in coke.

yup, coke has citric acid which is about 2-3 ph level, our stomach is hydrocloric acid which is about -1-0 ph. Also if you swallow a T-Bone steak it will just dissolve in all the acids in your stomach, so why not take more ant-acids and stop your digestive system. The problems with coke is not this, its the sugar content you should be worried about, not the acidicty. Coke is about as acidic as lemonade, and no one has raise concerns about lemonade?

If you pour a bucket of vomit on a car it will lose all its rust and possibly paint, and that vomit was in you. (although i hope none of you have that much vomit to spare, maybe ask a balemic person or something)

Some interesting facts for you ...

Coke

In many states (in the USA) the highway partol carries two gallons of ***e in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-Bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl, and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour. Then flush clean. The citric acid in coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminium foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To bake a%2

These myths have all been busted..... not a single one of those coke "facts" are true..... does anyone else watch mythbusters?

Well, Coke does have one cleaning usage...

It does pretty well against RainBoe (Freon 113).

There's always the problems of seeing through a rain-dashed windshield when trying to land an aircraft in a rainshower. No matter how fast the wipers, you just can't clear the streams of water fast enough.

For jets with a really high final approach speed, you just put up with it and do your best.

RainBoe is no longer in use, but when it was, a simple actuation of the dispensing system to squirt it on a wet windshield would work wonders at making the rain "sheet" off the windshield instead of making vision-impairing streams.

Problem is, if one accidentally squirted this stuff on a dry windshield, you might as well taxi back. Can't see. If the windshield was not already wetted down, removing it proved difficult.

Decades ago someone figured that Coke (and other sodas) is good at expediting removal of this stuff from a dry aircraft windshield. Of course, since RainBoe is not used these days (it's a CFC), the Coke remedy is no longer needed.

when did proving something is a false myth matter.....

to think of all the good coke wasted to get that 30-35 foot stream of soda.....

i think it matters very well considering were talking about coke

i put a tooth in coke, the coke dried up into syrup, the tooth was covered in syrup, washed the tooth, good as it was when it came out of my mouth, it was in the coke for a month.
