When i start my fishless cycling with ammonia my local aquatic centre said to use waterlife biomature fluid (filtration maturation fluid), is this necessary?
Or are they just selling me stuff i don't really need!

This is what is written on the box...

Biomature should be added daily until the nitrite reading of 10ppm is achieved. The length of time each system will take to mature may vary.
Use biomature to keep filtration bacteria alive should your system ever be empty of fish for more than 24hrs.

Any help would be great, thanks x

Just want to clarify that Waterlife BioMature is a source of Ammonia.

It specifically states on the bottle it must NOT be used with livestock.

It is one of the few products and brands that experienced UK fishkeepers recommend.

new tank newbie

Hello all; I am very new to aquaria, and communicating with so many people on-line. I apoligize in advance for any gaffes that may ocuur as I am learning. I just bought a 46 gallon bow front tank in January. I am cycling it with fish. I started with 5 rasbora het. that were so tiny that I covered the intake of my filter with pantyhose material as I was afraid that they would get sucked in! I've since brought home 5 lemon tetras and accidently (well, rescued) 3 callistus(?) tetras. I am nervously awaiting for the Nirogen cycle to begin as it has been 5 weeks. I have an API master testing kit and test for amonia and nitrites on a daily basis. All levels are 0. We have soft water with a 7.2 pH. I do a 40% water change weekly. Any thoughts or suggestions? Oh! no more fish for now.
