I'd like to know if there is any clear paint that can be applied to common everyday objects (like action figures) to not only be used in a safe manner but also to protect the object itself (allowing the objects to keep its original paint & color).

I have several ideas for putting objects in the aquarium & the decorations that are available for aquariums are pretty limited.

*Just in case ya'll were wondering, I was thinking maybe adding an Aquaman figurine or some of those realistic figurines (dragons) by McFarlane*

if you are really eager about doing this and have some time, i would just put a thin layer of silicone over the entire sirface of the decoration, once it dries there will be a very very thin layer of silicon over the entire surface of the decoration making it water proof and viewable at the same time.

ps the silicone must be stread real thin or you will be able to see it

Agreed!!

U can use aquarium seal's, BUT, please check the label's as some have a heavy solvent base (Mainly VERY cheap one's) that need's to cure ( I.e....lie for day's in tank)!!! MOST of today are great!! I had a bad "@=*% ..up" a few year's ago with this in my friend's tank, and it was a disaster, wasn't my fault but, i listened to her, although i wasn't sure and went along.

Just do a check.
Better safe than sorry... ;)

I really commend your idea. Very creative.

Just be careful about the joints on those figures. Most of them have metal on the inside and will harm your fish if you're not careful.

ya aquairum selant works real good i love making or personalising decorations for my tanks ex:i recently finshed making a cave by using half of a clay pot and then i took abunch of my left over gravel and guled it on i also put a couple of fake plants on it. now it looks great i matches the gravel perfectly its like a natural cave. iv also used hot glue to put a skeloten together and put it on a treasure chest i let that sit for a few days in water and cand water conditioner since i didnt know if it would of been good to use but the fish seem fine and its holding up great
