My water sprite grows fast but once a stalk hits about 4 inches it starts to melt and die. I get new stalks pretty fast but they all do the same. I have about 1.5 watts. flourish every day (small amount) Regular gravel . I just tried jobes sticks and put a piece near the water sprite. Do you think this will help?

You might not have enough light for them. I have been pretty successful with watersprite without adding any ferts and just regular gravel but my light is 2.6 watts per gallon. Try growing some floating. This will get it really close to the light and then see if it still keeps melting. It grows floating very easily. and looks quite nice, IMO.

I had some in a 1wpg tank and it did really well. Currently I have some in both my tanks, which are both at 2wpg. They are doing rather well. Though I have noticed that adding ferts can sometimes cause the leaves to get covered in algae. but they seem to recover anyways.

They feed from the water column so the root tabs won't help much.

Can I ask what your water paramaters are?

What's the water doing there?

Some more delicate plants will get destroyed by water flowing over them. I have a patch of L. Repens that gets beat up when the filter blows water against them. Didn't notice this until they got about 6" tall and into the water stream. Other repens in the tank are flawless. Maybe your plants are hitting some moving water at 4", which breaks/kills them.

In my 10 gallon I had the water sprtie right in fron of the AC Mini out take and they never had any problems growing too big, expet occasionally getting dislodged.

hmmm
i had it far away from the hob filter
i moved it and now its right in front of it
i think it may be my light
i dont know what my water paramaters are
i just do regualr water changes and make sure all the fish and plants look good
