i have seen the wavemakers at one of my lfs that have a big dump bucket that fills and then tips to a funnel then into the main tank. its all contained in black acrylic, which makes for a nice display, but i cant really see how it works. anyone have any prints that look like what im talking about. i tried to make a smaller version of what i would like, but ive been having problems with getting enough water to give the wave effect through the entire tank.
any help woudl be greatly appreciated, and the reason i dont buy one of theirs is that they cost 800 bucks. i cant justify that kind of cash just for the wave effect. the timed power heads dont give the same effect that i am looking for. thanks again.

I know this isn't what you were looking for, but I can't find plans for the dump-bucket system.

This is an alternative that Bruce Carlson used at the Waikiki Aquarium.

You might hunt around using "algal turf scrubber" or some such, because the dump bucket system is often associated with a scrubber. Bill Capman uses something like it on his system at Augsburg.

Maybe someone else has better links to designs.

inland was the store i was talking about.they were half price before, but one of the people there said they lost the patent for them, so they almost doubled in price. i mainly like the sound of the dump, and the ones they have dont give much ripple on the top( they dont overflow the other end of the tank when filled) but there is almost a continuous back and fourth motion going on in the tank. they have a diplay with a turf scrubber on it but i dont have the extra room for one like that. theirs takes about 3 foot along the end of the tank and its the same width as the tank. the ones they sell look like they hang on the back, really compact for the effect you get.
