weather loach flounder and others....

Are there any true fw flouder? I have seen some sold as such but I believe they are brackish fish...which may have a lot to do with the health issues.

A lfs nearby me has one for sale...label sez "Flounder" and it's in a fw tank (and yup, it' looks exactly like a sw flounder)

That doesn't mean a whole lot. As far as I can tell there is a species (Trinectes maculatus) that travels upstream as fry, then slowing moves to increasing salinity, ending up full marine as an adult, then swimming back upstream to spawn, and thats the closest thing to a "fw flounder".

The problem is when they spawn, they are in fw, so they are collected in fw, and the collectors tell the distributors that they are fw.

c'mon mg its a good excuse to set up a salty tank :D

There are some true freshwater flounders, though I don't believe they're collected for aquaria. It's safe to assume the ones sold as freshwater are species that will eventually need salt.
