Weather Loach

Hi!
Firstly, Merry Christmas!
I was wondering whether I should get a weather loach or not.
If anyone out there has or had one before, please tell me a little bit about it.
Much appreciated. Is the loach friendly? Is it a easy fish?

At the moment I have:

2 Hatchet Fish
7 Neons
2 Honey Guramies
1 Dalmation Ballon Molly
1 Killifish
2 Porthoploes
2 Clownloaches
2 Bristle noses
1 Upside down catfish
2 Schwartz's Cories


I have a suitable tank by the way.

i have one .. dont really see to much of it .. but it lookd pretty cool slithering around in the tank.. i heard they like to have buddies so more then one and i also hear they are pretty friendly .. and also keep a tight lid on your tank.. they can get out ..

cool fish i think. however do not leave an opening in the hood. they can and do jump out. I lost mine not long ago and want to get a few more but not till i change my hood style.

they can be cool to watch and they help predict heavy storms, hence thier names.

Most people don't realize this but weather loaches are actually cool water fish with a temperature range of 60-76*.

Most tropical tanks are too warm for them.

They're great tankmates for goldfish or whiteclouds, but I'd -- personally -- not put them in with tropicals.

The weather loach is impossible to kill. there are sevral stories about dojos jumping out of tank and being found after a day on the floor And they are still alive. they achive this by creating enough extra body mucus to incase itself in it. They have quit the personallity. my are in a school with a 5" horsehead loach and a 5" small synodontis catfish. they pile up on eachother in the coner of the tank but I never have a camera ready when they pile over each other. they did this alot more with yoyo loach. They are comunity, have an interesting personality, survive vurtually all conditions, and are great cleaners, not to mention cheap, schoolers, and there resonable size and interesting eel like shape. definently a must

when I had my loaches they were awsome, they passed on however but they are personable and make very nice additions to the tank. I wish I could find them again

Like all loaches they tend to be pretty much loners if you don't get them in a group and you may not see them very much. Plus they are more of a coolwater fish and they do get rather long, though not as big as clown loaches.

They are great fish. I have one. It is very active and I see it all the time. It loves flakes and comes up to the top and eats. Not shy it all in my experience. It will even beg for food from the cat when she is by the tank.

They are very active fish espeacially at night you will need a lid and keep all openings covered all openings. They are very fast but usually will only make quick darts. I've heard they can get big.
