Weather Loaches in Mass?

I MAY know someone who bought a weather loach from a pet store in mass. Ther loach was unidentified at the store. Will this "friend" be in deep trouble?

Well, my "friend" is just a bit paranoid that his new fish (which is awesome!) will be confiscated and he will be fined. Also, he wants to make sure that the pruchasing location of the loach is aware of it's legality.

Yes, they're illegal in many states, such as Mass, Michigan, Oregon....

May I ask why weather loaches are illegal in some states? They sell them down here in the south in every store you go to, both the reg. color and the albino/gold color. Shoot, I love mine.

Maybe if they were released into the wild they would cause nearby thunderstorms

The fear is that they can survive and reproduce and evolve into Snakeheads! Jk about the Snakeheads, but it sure doesn't make much sense when they're available in so many other states that they could survive in. And if you want to see the big ones go to an Asian fish market!
