Week Three. How am I doing?

My 20 g tank is currently nearing the end of the 3rd week. I currently still have the 5 zebra danios and 2 cories. I haven't added any fish in the past 2 weeks. I performed my 2nd water change today and the stats are as follows..
ammonia .25, Nitrite a tad under .5 and Nitrate is at 20. The water change unly slightly lowered the nitrite and nitrate, while the the ammonia level has been consistent. The fish appear to be doing well. Any thoughts as to the progress of my tank?

You are 3/4 of the way there. Another few weeks and it should be wraping up. One thing I would do though is do 25% daily water changes. This will help keep the nitrite under 0.25ppm.

I cycled my 10 gallon with 3 zebra danios. I then learned how hard it could be on the poor fish. I added BioSpira bacteria and it cycled in three days. Just a thought.

If you're unable to get Bio-Spira, I'd do daily 50% water changes - any time there is measurable ammonia or nitrite in the tank, fish are potentially stressed or suffering damage to their gills; water changes will keep the levels down and won't slow the cycle.
