Weekly grocery costs for two people

Preparing to move out of my house into an actual apartment and need to get a handle on food costs...(all utilities are included in the rental price so i dont need to worry about them).

Previously i have lived with friends and cost of food wasnt a large issue because my rent was 300/month i could afford however much food as i needed and didnt need to bother keeping track of what i spent. but now that i am looking to spend aboud 3x that a month i need to get an idea of what 2 people would spend on food/week.

Well I have a family of five and I spend about $300 every other week with milk and bread in between. When it was just hubby and I, we could get by on less than a hundred a week.

Just me and my wife, and we spend less than 100 a week. We also pick up whatever we want to, including steaks, ribs, etc... Usually turns out to be around 200 every couple of weeks or so, with little pick ups in between. I probably should've voted 85-100...

Keep in mind that this is groceries. Once every other month, you'll need toilet paper and paper towels and shampoo and all those other things. If they are run out at once, that's a pretty hefty addition to groceries.

We usually buy all this stuff from Sam's Club in the big sizes. It's a lot more economical than buying them from the grocery store.

We use to do that, but we don't have the storage for that kind of stuff anymore. But yeah, 6 months without having to buy toilet paper is cool.

i planned on borrowing TP from work...they stopped giving out raises but started using better TP. the least i can do is wipe my bum with their profits
