Weigh Your CO2 Tank

From what I've heard, the best way to monitor what's left in your pressurized CO2 tank is to weigh it. A 10 pound tank weighs 24 pounds when full. (yours may vary...)

I have no room for a regular 'step' scale to weigh the tank. So, I thought tying a small rope to the neck of the tank (so as not to interfere with the valves), and using a digital fishing weigh scale to check the tank. Hook the scale to the rope and lift.

My tank sits behind the tank, and off to a side - which makes it very hard to reach.

Hope this helps some others. I won't trust a small pressure drop on the main pressure gage. Weighing it gives a much better idea of the amount of CO2 left.

Ok...

Guess I should have said, a 10 pound 'cylinder' of CO2 has a total weight of 24 pounds.
That sounds better..

If what you mean is to keep the cylinder on the scale...the scale will eventually, (and not after too long a time) decalibrate to the point of uselessness. You will find that you weigh about 60 pounds one day.

No, that's not what I mean.

I meant using a hand-held fisherman's scale. Raise the CO2 cylinder with the scale and weigh it.....
