weird dot on betta, what the heck is it?

it sounds like it is just a lost scale, since you've obviously done a lot of research to try to diagnose any disease or parasite. those can take a long time to regenerate, in my case a female white cloud minnow scratched some of her scales off during an ich outbreak and they never grew back! that same fish also had a missing caudal fin which likewise never grew back. poor girl, she lived for 2 and 1/2 years with that broken body before finally succumbing to exhaustion, i think. maybe she had some kind of deficiency, hmm. but i digress...

You could be right I barely remember that Beta anyways.

don't tumors protrude?
Ya, most tumors protrude, so I doubt that is what it is. I agree, sounds like a lost scale. As long as he is active and eating I wouldn’t worry.
Just a note on tumors, not all tumors will cause death. My betta had a tumor for over 6 months before I had to euthanize him because of the location of the tumor (he just couldn’t swim correctly anymore), not the tumor itself. However, he was just over 3 years old so it may have been failing health that made it hard for him to swim. Some fish can live years with tumors before they become a problem.

yeah, I think it's just a lost scale, i'm not gonna really worry too much about it anymore, just monitor it and see if anything bad happens.

ok, maybe its not fungus, but just FYI, fungus does not necessarily protude from the skin/scales. on fish with with small scales or none at all it can look just like a white patch of skin, no bumps.
