weird filter stuff

i have some weird stuff in my filter the last 2 times i checked....and more keeps coming... it looks like white rice stuff only really small. some are about 2mm some are a bit bigger and some are in clumps that still look like rice but crumble apart to smaller peices... it is sort of off white and doesn't desolve... i have never had this problem before and i have no idea what this gross stuff is....any ideas or suggestions would help....especially if you know what it is. thanx kris

Sounds like mineral deposits assuming it isn't something biological. Do you have hard water there? How old is your filter? It takes awhile for hard water deposits to build up.

i don't think that's it....i change my filter monthly and yesterday i found a ton of it in the gravel.....perhaps it is somehoe related to the ich they are getting over.....
