Ok, i would just like to say that this site has given me a lot of information about fish that i currently keep and those that i am thinking about keeping, so everyone, keep up the good work. Now, as for my question. I fed my cories some shrimp pellets a little while ago, and as i was watching them eat, i noticed that they would eat pieces of the pellet and the "blow" it out of their gills. I had never noticed this before, and i was wondering if anyone had or if anyone had any idea as to what they were doing. I know that there is a theory about egg fertilization along these lines, but i have never heard or read anywhere about them doing this with their food. Any input would be appreciated.

Ive seen mine do the same thing. I think they bite more than they can swallow, then expel the exess out their gills. I have also watched some of my other fish do the same.
