Like I said, plenty of air pumps, and a little creative engineering... I think it could be done.
adding an air pump to the equation anywhere would mean the mattress is not enclosed. when the mattress is not enclosed, then whatever opening there is, even if it's where the air pump is, will face the pressure of your body weight every time you decide to get on your bed instead of just looking at it. there is no way, regardless of creative engineering, that this would work that would preserve the whole point of a waterbed.
I've always wanted to do the TV tank. Maybe that will be my next project.

the tank tables look like the most feasible/humane one to me... that and the TV and monitor. the other ones look like novelty death traps for the fish.
