Puffer Update

My puffer is doing great now. Completely back to normal. Except it's not eating - likely still stressed out from the inflating incident. I'm going to go get some snails for him later on today.

I think the inflation was actually a blessing in disguise. I think my puffer had indigestion or something and the inflation and deflation helped to release gases. He's no longer huffing and puffing.

2 new puffers!

Hey, guys. I haven't posted in about a month. I just got two new puffers today:

1) A Pig Nose Puffer (about 2.5 inches), and
2) A Figure 8 (about 1.5 inches).

The Pig Nose is in a 25 gallon FW with all live plants, 5 Ghost Shrimps, 10 small Guppies, two black mystery snails, two baby Lobsters, and two Red Tailed Sharks.

The Figure Eight is temporarily sharing the other 25 gallon live planted tank with Belushi - my Target Puffer, 4 Tiger barbs, 8 Ghost Shrimps, two Red Crabs, and 1 baby Lobster.

I didn't intend to buy a Figure Eight. I had the 25 gallon tank cycling for a month for waiting for the Pig Nose. At the LFS - I noticed the Fig8 by itself in a tank with 3 Pig Noses. All of it's fins were nipped.

So I made a deal with the owner: In addition to the Pig Nose, - I also bought an Eclipse 6 System from him and he gave me the Figure 8. I set up the tank tonight and the Fig8 will have it all to himself once it cycles.

The F8 will need a brackish 10g for 1 fish--6g isn't enough for it. The pignose will eat all the other fish in your tank. The target will kill the F8.

Hey, RTR-

Yeah. Both the 25 gallon tanks are a little overstocked at the moment, but the Target will eat most of the Ghost Shrimps in about 2 weeks. And the Figure 8 will move to it's own tank in 3 weeks. The two Red Crabs actually spend most of their time in the the tank of my Penguin power filter. They climb out into the main tank to eat and then climb back up to the filter tank. There's only one baby lobster left now that the F8 ate the other, and I'm expecting that the other will be gone soon also (they're less than an inch each). So pretty much - it's only the Target and the 4 Tiger Barbs to that tank.

The same holds true for the Pig Nose tank. He will likely eat all of the Ghost Shrimps, Lobsters, and Guppies in about 3 weeks.

I'm getting 2 50gallon tanks in about 6 months for the Target and the Pignose. And a 60 gallon tank for another as yet undecided Puffer - maybe a Fahaka.

Pufferpunk: The Eclipse System I got for the Figure 8 is actually a 12 gallon.

ttyl guys.

why do you think a 6 gallon tank isn't big enough for a 3" F8? I know its not ideal but it shouldn't be that bad.

Yeah. It's a little misleading the way Eclipse names it's systems. The Eclipse3, for instance - is a 6 gallon tank. And the Eclipse6 is a 12gallon tank. Pretty decent and convenient tanks, though.

The Eclipse 6 is a 12 gallon tank?? Are you sure about that? Everywhere I've seen calls them 6 gallon tanks, and they look smaller than the 10"x20" 10 gallons I was looking at today.

lol. Yeah. My bad. The Eclipse 12 is a a 12 gallon, and the Eclipse 6 is a 6 gallon. Actually - it's the website's bad. I had the wrong description for the Eclipse 6 - listing it as a 12 gallon. Tinister
