Well, Pluto is no longer a planet.

. This is almost as bad as when they changed all the names and looks of the dinosaurs I learned about in elementary school. Brontosaurus, Stegasaurus Rex, etc. Whatever happened to them?!? They have all these "new school" dinosaurs that I know nothing about!
Wow I must really be behind the times. When did they change the names of the dinosaurs?

"They" are saying Pluto is now a "dwarf planet" - not a real planet.. Their defintion of a "dwarf planet" has no real specifics, but rather generalizations.

All the textbooks in the world all have to change now. I can't wait till I'm really old and say " Back in my day. We had nine planets." :p:

Hahahahah that's awesome! "Back in my day we had nine planets! Until you hooligans with ur classification mumbo jumbo screwed up the universe (if it's still called that in 50 years) and everything in it.... now I don't know the difference from a saurapod and a mastadon or a brontosaurus and a wooly mammoth!"

Mammoths are mammals so they have boobs? lol jk

So what is pluto? A huge chunk of rock?

I think its a dirty ice ball... similar to a comet and similar to thousands more like it orbiting the solar system out beyond Neptune. It just happens to be larger and closer than most, and has a smaller object (moon, if you will) orbiting it. They announced Pluto wasnt a planet like over 10 years ago... it must have returned to planetary status since I guess... or maybe it wasnt official before. Dunno.

In astrological circles there has been debate over Pluto's legitimacy for some time. When doing astrology charts, I've found that Pluto is as accurate as any of the others. I say if it looks like a planet, and it acts like a planet, it's a planet.

But what do I know? I'm just a flaky astrologer :)

"Firstly, it is impossible and contrived to put a dividing line between dwarf planets and planets. It's as if we declared people not people for some arbitrary reason, like 'they tend to live in groups'.

"Secondly, the actual definition is even worse, because it's inconsistent."
