Just bought 2 new AC70's for my 75 gal only to find out that they don't fit over the tank trim. Anyone know if the AC110's are a bit wider? If so I may go with those instead.

well it possible to cut out the trim to allow your filter. Most times all you need to trim is the lower lip (the part that glass would set on. Use a sharp knife, take your time, be sure not to put any undo stress on the glass.

I wish I trusted myself to do that JimL, but I don't. I know that I would mess it up somehow. So I think just to be safe, I will buy new filters instead lol

Its a 2 minute job with a dremel tool, just today I hade to trim out 1.5 inches of my 93 acrylic tank top to fit an HOB properly which is 10 times more touchy then glass tank trim. You can also use a hot knife blade and burn cut it. About 1/8 inch should be all you have to trim out.

If you can cut paper or cut your own nails, you can do that job as well just go slow and careful.

and make sure to not get plastic trimmings in the tank, if it's already full and stocked. :)
